Variable rate fertilization maps

Put more fertilizer where the crop needs it and less where it does not. PIX4Dfields builds the zones from an index map and exports the rates straight to your machine.

Steps

  1. Get imagery from a satellite image or a multispectral drone flight. Red edge based indices such as NDRE are commonly used to read nitrogen status.
  2. Create zones in Targeted Operations: choose 1 to 7 zones and a linear or quantile algorithm, then adjust zones by hand if needed.
  3. Assign a rate to each zone. You can add no spray zones and strip trials to compare rates.
  4. Export in ISOXML (ISO 11783, ISOBUS) for terminals from brands such as Case, New Holland, AGCO, Trimble and Topcon, or upload to John Deere Operations Center.

Field example from Pix4D

ELMScience mapped a 17 acre sod farm in St. Johns County, Florida, with a DJI P4 Multispectral and RTK. About 1,500 images per flight were processed in under 10 minutes, and NDRE maps were compared with tissue samples to build nitrogen prescriptions for the second year of the trial.
